ISO: Mentor

I want a mentor. Someone to look up to, to emulate, to ask for guidance and support. Someone to bounce ideas off of, to have lunch with, to learn from. Someone that can offer motherhood insights and career jump starting know how. A strong role model.

Or maybe I already have people who can offer me all of these things? The different attributes are different pieces that may be inside many of the women I already know. Perhaps I just need to be willing to ask.

Do you have a mentor? Official or unofficial? How did you meet up and establish yourselves? If you don't have one would you like one? What would you want from your mentor?

In the spirit of putting it out there: I want to find one (but I'm not exactly sure how to get one).

Though I know what a mentor is, I looked up the definition:
1.a wise and trusted counselor or teacher.
2.an influential senior sponsor or supporter.

but I also saw where a mentor can be a trusted friend. I think different friends are placed into your life to serve different purposes. I totally look to you and find support and motivation and accountability. I'm able to bounce ideas off of you without worrying what you may think or how you may answer. And it helps me to know that there is someone who struggles with the same parenting issues that I am faced with. Maybe not a "mentor" but you are certainly a person in my life whom I value and respect and who has helped me tremendously in getting through life's challenging times. hugs :)

this is such a good idea. To put it out there... I might do the same. :) xoxo
