Because things taste better at the beach we kept our picnic menu simple tonight. Ham sandwiches, fresh strawberries, raw broccoli bites, cheese crackers, hot tea, and popcorn. Combined with a high tide the sea winds felt very cold. We spent a bit of time on the beach, ate our supper, and scooted the new-to-us beach quilt back several times. 
This was the view from our blanket. The ferocious waves startled the kids. They are used to calmer conditions and they squealed each time the water came close. Mario and I enjoyed it though. A deserted beach, even if it's cold, can be a very nice thing.
