A week in dinner.

Monday: Chipolte Pork Tinga Tacos at Sarah's house.
Tuesday: Balsamic chicken with Spring vegetables.
Wednesday: Frosted Flakes.
Thursday: Spaghetti Supper at Wesley's pre-school.

The Frosted Flakes tasted pretty good. I hate sweet cereal at breakfast, probably because we never had sweet cereal for breakfast as a kid, so it seems like a better dinner or dessert option. One of my favorite college cafeteria memories (besides the company, Joe's circular burgers, and dripping honey on vanilla ice cream with granola) is being able to eat just the marshmallows out of Lucky Charms. Talk about luxury to a geeky 18 year old.

Forget about the freedom, the boys, and the beer. Ahh...my parents were so lucky that a bowl of food color infused dehydrated marshmallows made me happy. So back to the Frosted Flakes.

We deviated from our planned soup/stew meal because I never got around to making anything. Why? Because the children deviated from their human state. This means: mama lost control, the kids went wild screaming and yelling, and mama went for survival mode. Around here this tends to look like throwing kids into a red minivan, grabbing a set of keys, and driving off without any real planned direction close to 4:30 p.m.

At least the screaming stopped because they wanted to know where we were going. Their interest peaked when I said it was a surprise (because I figured if I didn't even know where we were going that qualified as a surprise for all of us). Thirty minutes later we ended up at Mario's office. Not so much of a surprise.

He reminded me calmly on the curb that they were not evil and they were just 2 and 4 years old. He also pointed out that we have not had a really bad day in awhile. He then put some money in my hand and told me to go and feed them despite our pact not to eat out. I drove through Wendy's and quickly learned that spicy nuggets are really spicy. Spicy enough to make children gasp for air and to demand chocolate milk.

Luckily we were already in the Zaxby's drive thru line where I was making a move to cash in their free cookie Valentine's Day cards for my own pleasure. In the end: I ate two cookies, the kids got Zaxby's chicken and Mario ended up with 10 very spicy nuggets.

The Frosted Flakes were my solution to providing myself with a balanced meal since everyone else had chicken and the two chocolate chip cookies were not enough for my dinner. It may be worth keeping a box of those in the pantry for future emergency use.

the frosted flakes option sounds pretty good.... i've topped cookies off with ice cream for dinner after a bad day before.... maybe i should opt for sweet cereal in the future!
