We ate cake.

In order to keep our expenses for our wedding under control we opted not to have a wedding cake. We had a dress, a dinner, music, a chapel and dancing but skimped in the sweets department. I don't think we missed it then but looking back it is one thing I wish we had gone ahead and done. (And as a seasoned wedding guest I know how much everyone looks forward to the cake!)

Ten years ago we got married on St. Simons Island and to celebrate this mini milestone we went on vacation together last month. We also had an ordinary Thursday night date and babysitter to celebrate the actual anniversary. We talked about now and then, our upcoming plans, and what else we want to do in our lives together. I love conversations like those.

We have a lot left to learn about each other but I look forward to growing together more in the upcoming years. After we finished dinner we were both exhausted but knew it was too early to go home. The kids were probably still awake which kind of defeats part of the reason and joy of having a baby sitter!

Mario suggested cupcakes. So we went to Cupcake in the Vista and split a cupcake together. He fed me. I fed him. And ten years later we finally had cake.

I forgot that we have the same anniversary! Bryant and I celebrated our 10th Thursday night by going to a movie - in an actual theater! A rare treat these days. Happy Anniversary!
