Birthday Fortune.

Sweet Abigail celebrated her birthday this weekend. The kids and I attended her party filled with the most thoughtful activities, treats, and fun. We went on tractor rides, went fishing in a real pond, dug for treasures in the sand, decorated buckets, sang Happy Birthday, and visited.

Her party felt indicative of summer thus far. Lazy stretches of time filled with things designed to delight with a sprinkling of treats and friends. We are starting another week of summer vacation today. I only have one thing on our agenda. Last year or the year before that would have scared me to have such a blank stretch of time in front of us. This year it seems like a relief. I know that it can easily be filled with friends, water, parks, and outings. And even more importantly filling it is not the object now: letting it evolve according to what we actually want and feel like doing at the moment is enough.

Last week we spent time with Grampin' at the beach while Mario was out in LA for work. Being loved and spoiled was great fun for all of us. The kids ate Popsicles and swam until they collapsed in exhaustion each night. There's something about beach living that is really easy.

In the meantime we are going to get the glitter out, take a few more bags of stuff to Goodwill, and finish the coffee that Mario made for me this morning. Happy summer living to all!

Sounds wonderful! Last week was crazy enough for us that I have decided to let's this week be inspired by a desire for more simplicity in our lives too. Like you, we are also trying to get back to LESS chaos in our schedules! I am looking forward to spending more time at home this week and seeing what kinds of creative things the kids come up with! For me, it also means more de-cluttering and spending more time making our house an HOME! Miss you! By the way, if you haven't already, check out www.simplemom.net- it has become one of my new FAVORITE sites for SIMPLE LIVING inspiration!
