Yesterday I received 200 additional units of
Botox from the neurologist to ward off the evil migraine monster. The injections went in my forehead, temples, hairline, neck, and shoulders. They hurt in the muscles that give me the most problems during actual migraine attacks and apparently that is a normal reaction. The neck brace is ready and waiting for the floppy sore neck to arrive. (Sadly it's not winter this time so I won't be able to look as cool as I did the first time!)
I asked about relief for the jaw pain resulting from the constant clenched teeth I carry around with me. The next thing I knew I had three injections on each side of my jaw to help relax those muscles and to coax them into a more chilled
existence. Last week I picked up the $900 mouth guards from the dentist and I'm wearing them during the afternoons at home and at night.
At this point I feel like we are doing a lot for the headaches. Preventative steps, acute treatments, and we are armed with information. Last time during the
Botox treatment it took about 3 1/2 weeks to kick in. I am pretty sure I'm still riding on the coattails the last injections but I know that it can wear off at any moment. I'm lucky I made it this far.
I just need to be really careful for the next two - three weeks so that I don't set off a string of migraines. But if I do...I have medications and we know what to do. July 27= the next
Botox treatment.
